Meet SANCCOB
Founded in 1968 in response to a devastating oil spill, SANCCOB (Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds) is now the world’s leading organisation for the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of seabirds.
With seabird hospitals in Cape Town and Gqeberha, their dedicated teams work around the clock to care for ill, injured, abandoned and oiled seabirds, especially the critically endangered African Penguin.
Their work doesn’t stop at rescue. SANCCOB also trains conservationists, educates the public, supports seabird rangers, and participates in national and international conservation policy efforts.
